Comata is a high performance, though compact, PIFA antenna. It can be placed directly onto a groundplane; no need for empty, groundfree areas that add to your total board size. With Comata, the actual area isolated for the antenna is far less than other types of antennas. You can also use the area underneath the antenna, in middle layers or backside, for traces, vias or even small components. The design creates a very compact antenna solution. The matching circuit has been designed separately for each of the bands and will work in one of the bands only depending on the matching circuit: WiMAX 2.3 GHz or ISM 2.4 GHz.
Due to Comata's physical size the radiating properties are excellent, which makes this a very good, high performance antenna. It is especially suitable for mass production since it comes in tape and reel packaging.
